Tom Lindsay and Janet Calvin
Tom Lindsay brought enthusiasm and good humor to the pinhole photography community for many years. His “keep on pinholin'” motto is still echoed by many of his fellow “pinholers”. Tom passed away on December 19, 2011 after over a decade of struggling with cancer. Even as he underwent surgery and chemotherapy, Tom kept his pinhole cameras at hand. I learned recently that his obituary and guest book may soon be dropped from the legacy.com internet site and felt the need to share Tom’s pinhole photography and some sense of who he was.
In 2003, I worked with Tom to create an exhibition of his pinhole photos on the Pinhole Visions website. The website no longer exists, but I kept the exhibition material. Last year I put together the exhibition as a document for a member of his family. It includes comments from the many people who signed his guest book and also an interview I did with Tom in 2005.

“Tom” Thomas A. Lindsay Thomas A. Lindsay, 57, passed away on December 19, 2011. He leaves behind his devoted mother, Nadine Lindsay; brothers, William J. Lindsay (Mary) and David A (Andy) Lindsay; his father, Prentice A. Lindsay; and his devoted sweetheart and the love of his life, Janet Calvin. He is also survived by Elizabeth Lindsay; his uncle, Charles Sebesta, Sr. and his three sons, three nieces, April, Alison, and Rebecca; three nephews, Paul, Adam, and Drew; one great-niece, Kayla; and two great-nephews, Austin and Tristan. Tom was born on August 2, 1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas. For those who knew Tom, I’m sure they will remember his love for life, nature, and his fellow man. Tom never met a stranger. Following his graduation from INOVA, Tom pursued his life time “love” of photography.
Tom was a renowned published “Pin Hole” photographer, and a member of the National Pin Hole Society. His work was respected by many fellow Pin Hole photographers. His work has been shown in art galleries in Maryland, Virginia, and Florida. Tom pursued his career with pride and devotion even throughout his illness.
He leaves us with many loving memories and photographs of his beautiful work.

I’m so sorry to have just learned of Tom passing I never knew he was this sick. I was married to him when he had just found out about the MS.
I read all he wrote on his cancer all of his pain. I wish we could have stayed in contact through the years.
