On both the night of the full moon (13th), and the next night, the moon has risen into a perfectly clear sky. So, I decided to return to Coquina Beach with hopes of capturing the moon rising over the Atlantic ocean without cloud or haze obstructions. (more…)

For Valentine’s Day, Carmela and I went to Striper’s Grille at Shallowbag Bay in Manteo for a nice dinner and to celebrate. I had not planned to set out any cameras this evening. But we got home near enough to the time of the moonrise that I decided to set one camera out on the neighbor’s deck which overlooks Roanoke Sound. (more…)

I have found references to February’s moon as both the “snow” moon and the “hunger” moon. The full moon was on February 13th. I set out 2 cameras the evening of the 13th, through the early morning of the 14th. I had scouted out a location in Jockey’s Ridge State Park in nearby Nags Head. (more…)
