Got up around 4:45. The moon was still high in the western sky. Headed back to Cochina Beach around 5:15. Stopped at the 7-11 for a cup of coffee along with a few fishermen starting their day. A couple of older ladies came in, wishing everyone a merry Christmas. They didn’t seem drunk, so I guessed it was an inside thing I didn’t know anything about. They were nice enough, just a little full of themselves for that time of the morning. (more…)

This was the last of the Beaver moon photos. It was a totally clear sky around sunset and the forecast was for clear in the morning. Although the moon was not longer that full, I wanted to re-capture the moon rise over Roanoke Sound. I think I missed a lot of the arc of the moon in the last attempt. (more…)

The full cold moon was yesterday, but it was overcast at dusk and rained much of the day here. The forecast for tonight is for clear skies. This is an ideal night to start a photo because the moon rises later in the day, closer to dark. I like having some of the twilight in the photo, but not too much. (more…)
